Site Keyword Search - Working with Live Equations with Productivity Tools:

Example:

Thermodynamic properties are hard to get and are usually only given at one or two specific temperatures. If a property like vapor pressure is needed at various temperatures, then the user will need to find and use a calculation - this calculation can be very time consuming, especially if many temperatures need to be calculated.

- Search field: phenol and vapor pressure

- Limit the search to the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering subject area

- Click on the link for Perry's Chemical Engineers' Handbook to see the results.

- Notice the "(Live Eqns)" designation for the second listed section. Knovel builds in Productivity Tools to help the user and shorten the research time.

- Click on the Table (1) hotlink for Table 2-6

- In the second column in from the left  -"no." column - click on the "97" hotlink - this displays information and details the formula for finding the vapor pressure. The user can easily print out this datasheet.

- "What is the vapor pressure of phenol at 450° K?"

- Back to the table, select " " hotlink under the Equation Plotter column.

- Flash applet (or Java) enables the interactive application. (For more help with Flash (or Java) requirements, go to the "Software Requirements" under the "Help Center" area of the site.)

- Show curve and interactivity with mouse pointed on curve, plot points, change units, etc.
