An engineer, working on the design of tanks for the military, wants to know what material could be used to insulate a fuel line from the hot manifold of the gas turbine engine so that there's no failure when the tank is in battle.
- Search field: thermal conductivity
- Limit the search to the Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering subject area

- Click on the title link of Mark's Standard Handbook to see the results.

- Section 4.4.6 Thermal Conductivities of Insulation Materials for High Temperatures. Click on the Table (46) link.

- Table is alphabetized.
- The engineer is probably concerned with weight. He would like the tanks to carry more fuel and ammo, so the weight of the insulation must be kept down.
- Sort by density by selecting Sort Table from the menu-sort ascending then descending. The higher the density, the heavier the material.

- Check "no.s" for all micro-quartz fibers that have max. temperatures of 3000° F and "select rows":

- Copy and paste these selected rows into Excel or other spreadsheet by using the Export Table feature (you can also, left-click and hold, then drag the mouse over all of the information. The Ctrl, C to copy and Ctrl, V to paste in the Excel or Word program).

Or, the copy paste method:
